Greetings -

Here is an excellent video from TED with Susan Blackmore - the author of
The <http://www.susanblackmore.co.uk/Books/Meme%20Machine/MM.htm> Meme
Machine

discussing Genes, Memes, and Temes:

Dr. Blackmore's fascinating discussion of replicating systems weaves
together studies of Darwin <http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/origin.html> ,

Dawkins <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Dawkins> , and Drake
<http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ztl8CG3Sys> to conclude with how society
is being changed by virulent technology. Visit the

Memes <http://www.susanblackmore.co.uk/> website for more information.

I think public and academic librarians are in a unique position to gage the
changes to our lives and

habits resulting from replicating technical systems. Dr. Blackmore's
comment that we are the

vehicle for technical replication until they becomes self-replicating
intrigues.
