[Publib] Fines

Along the lines of fines, (ooh that rhymes, it's Friday) my library system
doesn't publicize much the fact that we charge for lost or damaged
materials.
There is mention in the informational brochure, but who knows how many
people actually look at that?  Do any systems publicize this information,
or have signs or make it a part of the get-a-library-card spiel?  We do seem
to get that shocked look from customers when told they have to pay
for that cracked dvd stepped on by little Junior. Thanks.
