I just posted to PUBLIB using Gmail, Google's free email service. I
increasingly use Gmail for discussion list subscriptions for several
reasons:

* It is nearly bottomless -- I won't hit mail quotas or have to waste work
or personal time deleting old messages
* As others noted in an earlier thread, it does a GREAT job of rolling up
messages with the same subject line, making it much easier to follow *or*
ignore discussions

So if you're thinking about updating your discussion list "style," consider
using a Gmail account with your PUBLIB settings set to individual messages,
not digest.

Oh, and since we get asked this question a couple times a month, the PUBLIB
list archives are linked from the main page. There's a browsable archive and
there's also a search function, plus our policy and more. Go to
http://lists.webjunction.org/publib

Don't forget we have a Facebook page. It has 120 fans -- not bad! I bet we
have more PUBLIB'ers than that on Facebook:

Finally, I didn't hear back on my second posting about whether we're having
a PUBLIB get-together at ALA Annual 2008. I'd love to see this happen, and I
think it would also be respectful to his memory and his efforts for PUBLIB
if we had a good turnout for the first John Iliff award (Monday afternoon at
the PLA award ceremony). But I won't push; the last get-together was very
small, and maybe that's just not what people want to do any more (I find
myself socializing with my blog/Facebook friends a lot more). If any of you
want to organize an event, more power to you and let's all be there!

No matter whether we get together or not as a group, I hope to see all of
you at ALA!
