This what our staff does to increase attendance also.  We have found that with any adult program requiring registration that attendance will drop if there isn't a reminder.

We had the same problem with patrons registering for computer classes and not showing up for the class.  An employee decided to call all of the patrons on the sign up list when the class was nearing and remind them that the class was coming in a few days.  Almost all of our classes are full now.  It doesn't take long to call and remind people and most seem appreciative that we took the time to call and remind them.
