Hello Lisa - 

I am the administrative assistant to the Director, and I am responsible for taking the minutes, ordering the business cards, recruiting new board members AND orientating those Board members.  A handbook was developed by the Library Board of Trustees some years back, and while I update it with information that changes on occasion, it is pretty much as it was when it was developed.  Most of the topics you mentioned in your email are included in this handbook.  There are also copies of the various brochures about the library services, and a map of the city with all the branches noted.  Every time we get a new Board member (every two to four years), I just give the new member a copy of the handbook and my business card.  (I also include information on any projects the Board is working on, that wouldn't normally be in the handbook)  By the time they attend the first meeting, they are usually up to speed.  I have also distributed this handbook to all members if I've made any revisions to it.  They just replace the old content I a slim binder with the new.  I'd love to share it with you...
