Dr. Ruth Small. Professor of Information Studies, and her team of
researchers at Syracuse University's Center for Digital Literacy are
looking for 100 public librarians in New York State willing to
participate in the next phase of their research, to be held in September
2008. This phase, funded by a grant from the Kauffman Foundation's
Enitiative Project, will serve as the pilot study to a broad, national
study to be conducted in 2009.
Specifically, we are looking for librarians who have a strong knowledge
of the adult services and resources in their libraries (e.g., adult
services librarian, library director), only one per library please. We
hope to get representation from large, medium and small public libraries
from urban, rural, and suburban communities in New York State.
If you volunteer, you will be asked to complete an online survey that
focuses on specific types of resources and services in your library and
how they are used by patrons. The survey will take about 30 minutes.
All names and personal information will be kept strictly confidential.
Group data will be reported and any individual responses included will
be anonymous, with any identifying information removed.
If you would be willing to participate, please contact Dr. Small at
drruth at syr.edu no later than August 31, 2008.
Thank you.
