I have not used the Read poster software but I know that the Newport Public Library uses it all of the time. They often have city officials, board and foundation members and patrons in their posters. However, I don't think they have quite used it the way you are suggesting, but it might be fun. The Newport Public Library posters can be found on Flickr, http://www.flickr.com/photos/newportpubliclibrary/ , along with other library photos.
At our last Legislative Day when the Oregon Legislature was in session we offered Legislators the change to have a picture taken of them and made into a Read poster. Many of the Legislators really enjoyed having this opportunity.
By the way, if you just do a search for "read posters" on Flickr there are 5,176 results matching read and posters.

So have any of you had a Read Poster Program where you let patrons pose
for the posters? How have you used the Read Poster software and what do
you think of it? Would you recommend it? Do you let patrons have the
posters? How do you print the posters? Do they look ok if you print them
off as letter size or legal size?
