[Publib] Notaries public

Our office manager is a notary. Now that I see how many other
libraries have multiple notaries, perhaps we'll have to stock up. The
office manager is available from 9am-4:30pm Mon.-Thu., and from 9am
until about 10:30 on Fridays. She does a good business, and we'd
probably do an even better business if more of us were notaries. We
do not charge a fee for the service; the library pays whatever fees
are necessary for the o.m. to be a notary.

People often seem to be relieved to find out that they can get
something notarized here, and that they don't have to go to a bank.
(I wonder what the word for "bank phobia" might be. If there is such
a word.) Many people seem to expect that we will charge them
something for the service, and are pleasantly surprised to hear that
word, "free." It's a service that is popular and really requires very
little staff time.
