I would try using their terms, i.e. How-Tos, Travel flics, nature
movies, etc.
We interfile ours with books on the topics, so customers just follow the
same signage for DVDs that they do for books on the topic. However, we
are making a greater effort to get away from library jargon with our
shelving signage too!

Subject: [Publib] nonfeature vids/dvds
Our library is rearranging our videos and dvds and have come up with a
roadblock for the new signs. We're convinced that most people don't
know what we mean when we call the nonfiction items "special interest"
dvds and want to come up with a word or words that describes them in a
way that makes sense to the general public - and are not library jargon.
What do you call your nonfeature dvds? Even using the words feature and
nonfeature isn't all that helpful, since most people come in and ask
where the movies are.
Any thoughts?
