We send a friendly reminder via e-mail 3 days before items are due. The
patrons love it, and I (being chronically forgetful) do to!

Subject: RE: [Publib] Overdue notice language
Out of curiosity, how many libraries use email to notify patrons a day
before items are due, rather than sending out notices after things are
already overdue? My local library does, and I love it... and for me, it
means I (usually) no longer get overdue notices, whether they be
whimsical, polite, serious, passive-aggressive or any combo thereof. :)
