Talk to the site superintendent about this. (You should make a friend 
of him, in any case.)

Ours had the locks/keys changed near the end of the project and kept 
strict account of who had them after that. Because we had installed a 
building security system, when the site superintendent handed the 
keys over to us, I felt confident that the building was secure.
