The trick here is to know what personal/character qualities you are
looking for to compliment your team, or assist you in bringing about a
change in your team.

"What made you decide to apply for this position?" 
As an interviewee, it gave me the opportunity to convince the search
committee that I didn't just sent out 100 random job apps but actually
wanted to work at that particular library. 
And as an interviewer, it gives the search committee the opportunity to
determine if the person applying is really interested in that particular
library & position, or had just sent out 100 random job apps & isn't
interested in doing more than maybe getting a couple of years experience
before moving on to bigger & better libraries.
