[Publib] cataloging playaways

We have a different (newly created) numerical code in the ILS for
Playaways, since we want to be able to track their circulation
separately from the other media. This means we now have four different
formats for audiobooks: cassette tapes, CDs, MP3 CDs, and Playaways.
Presumably the AV librarian can use the various circ figures to decide
what formats are gaining or losing popularity, and plan acquisitions
accordingly.

Subject: [Publib] cataloging playaways
This is a tech services question, but our cataloger asked my opinion and
I said I'd pass it along. My library has purchased two pre-loaded
playaways and how to other libraries catalog them? Do you simply catalog
them with our audio books on CD or have you created a special holdings
code? My opinion is to create a holdings code so as to specifically
track circulation, but does anyone have a better idea? Thanks so much
for your help.
