Just one thought. If your library is a City or County Library you may need to assure that your policies are in line with the policies in all the other offices. 

We are all fortunate that we work in an environment where children who are old enough to be in a library setting unsupervised can come into our work place. However, that is not the case in Information Services, Human Resources, Police, etc. Your policy may need to be very clear that the child may be in the library to volunteer, read or research at the same time as the parent is working. Even in those circumstances where you cannot allow your children in the workplace unless they can supervise themselves, we do want our youngsters able to come in to use the library when their parents are on the job.
