I am seeking assistance in identifying some libraries that have
implemented an innovative or positive new service for their users that
is based on some technology. I am not looking for sites that have
implemented a strictly "out-of-the box" service, but those sites that
have done something creative or unique. I would like to identify
approximately ten such libraries (public, academic, government, etc.)
that I can use as case studies on how they used this technology to
successfully implement a service. I am limiting my research to
projects/services that are targeted at the library's user community. If
you know of such a site, please send me name and location of the library
and the project/service.
Part of my working belief is that libraries can be great for many
reasons, often time thought in terms of the size of their collections or
due to the architecture of their buildings, or due to their history. I
also think libraries can be great because of their services and this is
where I am focusing my research.
This research is part of my Capstone (thesis) project for my Master of
Science in Technology Studies. I am conducting original research into
the factors (financial, staffing, management, community) that exist to
support the library's success in the implementation of this project. My
eventual goal will be to publish my findings and analysis. Hopefully,
my research will eventually yield some factors and models that
librarians and directors may find useful when they want to approach a
new technology-based service.
Thank you for your assistance.
