We use Envisionware and from what I understand when a patron logs off the data is no longer accessible by patrons or even staff but if the FBI came in with one of their tech guys they could possibly recover the information.
(On a personal note - I grew up in Dubuque using the Carnegie-Stout Library. I still come back there about once a month to visit family. I was thrilled to hear that they were going to renovate the old part of the library. I can't wait to see that glass-floored mezzanine again!)
