[Publib] Book by Hungarian author - Stumper

Hi, I have a customer who is looking for a book he read in Grade 6 about
24 years ago. He thinks that the book was quite old at the time he read
it. It is by a Hungarian author, possibly named Laslo, and it is about
two boys escaping from from one country to another. The countries are
possibly Hungary and Austria. They are on a train at one time in the
book. Any suggestions?  Thanks.  Trish
