DUN & BRADSTREET PUBLIC LIBRARIAN SUPPORT AWARD

NOMINEES SOUGHT


The Dun & Bradstreet Public Librarian Support Award is an annual award of $1,000 to support the attendance at Annual Conference of a public librarian who has performed outstanding business reference service and who requires financial assistance to attend the ALA Annual Conference. The candidate must be a member of ALA. If not a RUSA/BRASS member, the recipient must join RUSA/BRASS upon being selected to receive the award. The recipient shall have a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career as a business reference librarian and the potential to be a leader in the profession.
Criteria

*         The candidate must be a member of ALA. If not a RUSA/BRASS member, the recipient must join RUSA/BRASS upon being selected to receive the award.

*         The recipient shall have a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career as a business reference librarian and the potential to be a leader in the profession. This may be demonstrated by involvement in special projects, creation of a business website, outstanding services to the community, publications and related activities. Award will be based on service to the community and on demonstration of need for financial assistance to attend the ALA Annual Conference.

*         Recipient must be willing to participate in BRASS activities at the ALA Conference for which the award has been made and write a short statement following the Conference on his or her experience, to be published in RUSA Update.

Applications are to be made in writing to the chair of the Dun & Bradstreet Public Librarian Support Award  by December 15, 2008

Nomination of Candidates
Applications are to be made in writing to the Chair by December 15, 2008

1.    Name of applicant or nominee and relevant background information

2.    Description of service(s) being provided to the public and/or business community.

3.    Description of the impact of these services.

4.    Explanation of the applicant's/nominee's contribution to the service(s) offered.

5.    Discuss plans, if any, for continuity or sustainability.

6.    Include in application/nomination packet:
*       Printed copies, URLs, or electronic copies on storage devices that identify marketing materials, programs, services, evaluations, etc.
*       Support letters from managers, library director, board of trustees, community partners, etc.
*       Additional documents highlighting the organization and/or individual.
