I had that one too! I just assumed that he meant a biography of the serial killer that Lecter was based upon. I felt a little embarrassed actually when he said no, he meant Lecter. He was stunned to learn that Lecter was fictional. And disappointed, poor guy.

I had a patron who wanted a "true life" biography of Dr. Hannibal
Lecter. She would not believe me that he was a fictional character and
not a real person, it took a lot of convincing.
