I had a high school girl once ask for the book IBID. I asked her where she got the title from and sure enough it was in a footnote from a paper someone had written. She would not believe me until I showed her where it is explained in the Terabian Manual.

Then there was the high school kid who had a ditto with a list of tree names. Some were the common name and some were the Latin name and he was supposed to find the opposite. Under Ponderosa Pine he had already filled in the answer. I asked where he got the answer and he said he had figured it out on his own. I used Ponderosa Pine as an example when I showed him how to use the field guide to trees so that he could see that the Latin for Ponderosa Pine was not steakhouse pine.
