Our library does a monthly program for adults and even though they are not always "literary", we try to put up a display that promotes the program with books that tie into the theme.
Last?week we did a program called, " Deck the Halls with Little Money" and had a display of books with?low cost decorating ideas. We had 20 for that program.
In October we had a local author talk about his book on the paranormal and had 40 for that program. In addition to the author's book, we had others out on the topic as well.
We have just purchased a movie license and plan to start some book/movie connected programs also.
We do not do book talks and have found that our storytelling programs for families are not being attended, so will find alternatives for those. Can't afford to spend $300 or better to entertain 5-7 people. I'd be curious what kind of attendance others are having for storytelling programs.
We are a community of about 22,000 that is a suburb of a city of about 135,000, We have a staff member whose tasks include adult programming.
Hope this helps.
