I know that this job announcement was already sent to PUBLIB but I wanted to add my 2 cents about the job.

This is an excellent position for anyone interested in being a public library director.  The library has great staff, is well funded and located in a beautiful part of the country.  The library itself was remodeled a few years ago and is an attractive and comfortable environment.  A little over a year ago the park behind the library was remodeled and renamed.  It now is Literacy Park and has a small amphitheater which is frequently used for library programs. 

I do not work at the Newport Public Library, http://www.newportlibrary.org/ , but I work with them.  The Lincoln County Library District provides at least a quarter of the funding for the library, courier service between libraries that are a part of the Coastal Resource Sharing Network (www.beachbooks.org), OCLC and some cataloging support from our cataloger, etc.  You can get just a bit more information from the flickr page I have been working on, http://www.flickr.com/photos/lcld/ .

Since I am not a staff member of the Newport Public Library and not a part of the interview team I might be a good person to contact if you want more information about the area.  

We have had some really good library directors at the Newport Public Library and I want to do my part to see that this tradition continues.

LIBRARY DIRECTOR

city's public library. The director will plan, organize, and oversee the
