We have two meeting rooms in which we allow food and drinks so when we
want to have refreshments, we schedule for those rooms. We almost
always have food when doing programming for teens. Last spring we had a
series of New Year-Better You programs aimed at helping people keep New
Year's resolutions. The first one was losing weight the healthy way and
we had healthy snacks to go with that (actually to go with each of the
programs, just to show that you could have more than raw veggies and
still be healthy). It seems that attendance is better when we have food
and we get better feedback.

Subject: [Publib] food at library programs
Our library is looking at how and why we spend money on food for
juvenile, teen and adult programs. We're hoping to discover the degree
to which other public libraries incorporate food into their programs.
Also, to what degree is the food paid for with private funding versus
public funding? Also, what is your rationale for having or not having
food at your public programs? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank
you!
