[Publib] Books and Kindle

I love my kindle. I also love my books -- my used paperbacks, my library
books, my hardbacks I just couldn't wait to get my hands on to read.
I love being able to get free classics from project gutenberg on my kindle,
and to get books my library doesn't have without waiting for shipping.
I HATE paper newspapers -- all that recycling, all those ads, dirty fingers,
paying through the nose to get a New York Times down here in Texas -- and I
love being able to get my newspaper on my kindle.
I don't think the kindle will ever replace the book, and I'm tired of
hearing that from both sides of the debate. TV didn't replace radio, radio
didn't replace reading. They might have decreased consumption because of
increased entertainment options, but they didn't replace it. Reading is
reading; I don't tell someone what to read, and I don't tell them how to
read it. How about keeping an open mind to media formats -- on both sides?
Jeff Bezos is an idiot if he wants to reinvent the book, sure, but creating
an additional way to read them isn't a bad thing.
