Essential Duties 	 Demonstrates a considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of young adult librarianship. Answers requests for information from library users and trains them to navigate all of the library's collections including books, periodicals, and online resources. Plans, promotes, implements and evaluates programs and instructional sessions, primarily for young adults, such as book discussions, computer classes, and other timely programs. Demonstrates knowledge of both classic and popular young adult literature. Continuously analyzes the young adult collection, weeding and replacing items as appropriate, using the Collection Management Coordinator's guidelines and schedule, as well as circulation data. Fosters a working relationship with the local middle and high school librarians and makes regular school visits which may include leading book discussions and presenting book talks. Represents the library at community events, makes presentations especially to school groups, and offers opportunities for organized groups to visit the library to encourage library use. Serves as a leader for the local Teen Advisory Board and organizes the summer teen volunteers. Serves on library committees (Young Adult Services Committee and others) and teams, sharing tasks and making recommendations as appropriate. Consistently offers the highest level of customer service to both internal and external customers. Performs other duties as assigned.   	
Additional Information 	 Computer skills required. Excellent customer service and interpersonal relations skills required. Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a Librarian's Certificate issued by the Virginia Board for the Certification of Librarians.

Annual Salary 	 $44,290.81--$77,743.15   	
Hourly Salary 	 $21.29--$37.38
