    Personally I'd kill for Caller ID on our phones.  Have you ever  spent lots of time on a reference question only to discover that you lost the random slip of paper with the customer's phone number?   How about the customer with a foreign accent  who mumbles his phone number into the answering machine?  He's asking a serious question and you know he really needs your help, but you can't contact him.

    I think the privacy concerns can be addressed in the same way as with Internet sign-in sheets.  You purge the entries at the end of the day.
