I think you're basically stuck with "Technical Services" - if only because it's been around longer.  People are familiar with "IT" or "Network Support" to differentiate.  As you can tell from the thread, you really aren't going to find a functional substitute.   Like "database."  Who other than librarians has a clue what that means?  But, there just isn't a term that makes better sense.  Changing phrases would probably just add to the confusion.

Other than Technical Services?

The unit that orders, catalogs, fund accounts, etc.

Our Town Manager would like a more intuitive name, one understood by the
average Joan on the street.  Acquisitions and Cataloging comes to mind, but
is "Cataloging" more secret library mumbo jumbo not understood by said Joan?
