[Publib] cataloging music CDs

At our library we have always arranged our music CDs by genre, then
alphabetically by main entry within the genre. Our genre headings
include Classic, Folk, Jazz, Pop, World, Opera, R&B, Show, and
Christmas. We have over 3000 CDs and this works very well for us. I
should note that in the Classic section we further subdivide by type of
composition. As an example, a CD of Mozart concertos would have the
call number as follows: Compact Disc Classic MOZ CON. We had so many
classic CDs (it is by far our largest section) that it had become
difficult to find a specific title.
I hope this helps (and, if you are facing a major re-cataloging effort,
may the Force be with you!)
