[Publib] Moving on to robots

This reminds me that about 1 1/2 years ago I wrote to this list asking what people thought about the idea of using an iRobot ( http://www.irobot.com/ )to vacuum the floors in a small library with no maintenance staff. I got very helpful feedback. Most had only used the Roombas in their homes and not a library but they described how they worked and how much they liked them very well.

I did get a Roomba and it has been running in the library about 4 days a week for over a year now. It is terrific. It basically works like any sweeper and gets all of the surface bits and pieces. A more efficient vacuum does need to be used every so often but it really is surprising how little it is needed. The main problem with the little creature is that it is far too much fun to watch.

Since then we also purchased a Scooba for the entry way, most of the restroom area and the meeting room. It does help keep the floors looking nice with only occasional mopping being needed.

I wish I had a place to use the robots for gutters and pools.

Thanks everyone for helping me decide to make this purchase.
