[Publib] Ready Reference List

We have a system in place called FITCH which is information about
commonly asked about topics put together by librarians. It lists books
available in the library, plus websites that may be of interest as well.
You still have to check to see if anything available in your branch, but
for some of those tricky and obscure homework topics it is a lifesaver.
The most commonly used ones at the moment are information on "Dora the
Bora" (Christchurch's sewerage outfall system), NCEA English Reading
(school exam system), Wireless hotspots in Christchurch, Books for Boys
and Maori place names. It is just a way of providing some information to
start a search with.

Subject: [Publib] Ready Reference List

Has anyone had experience with putting together a list of Frequently
asked reference questions. The more thought that I put into it the more
reasons I can find not to do it, because it would feel like canned
answers and that less attention would be given to the person asking the
question.

Thanks

Joe
