My name is Gil Sery. I am one of the organizers of the Save Friday Night Lights TV show fan campaign (aka SaveFNL.com). Now that we have been successful in our campaign to get the low-rated but critically acclaimed TV show "Friday Night Lights" renewed for a third season, my fellow organizers and me would like to expand the show's viewership, so it gets better ratings when the third season premieres in January 2009.
To do that, we would like to follow in the footsteps of our "Veronica Mars" colleagues and donate copies of both Season 1 and Season 2 DVD sets of this show to librarians who want them. We are currently focusing on donating at least one DVD set of Season One and at least one DVD set of Season Two to 100 libraries in the Top 100 TV Markets (as listed here: http://www.answers.com/topic/list-of-television-stations-in-north-america-by-media-market?cat=travel).
If your library is in one of these top markets, we would very much like to hear from you. All we need is for you to email the following information to librarydvds at savefridaynightlights.tv as soon as possible.
1. Name of library contact
2. Mailing address of library contact
3. Phone number of library or library contact (only in case we need to be in touch with regard to delivery of the shipment)
4. An assurance that the DVDs will be added to the circulating collection (as opposed to being sold by Friends of the Library)
You'll know that these discs are authentic because they will be arriving from Amazon.com or some other established, well-known retailer.
Although we can't guarantee that everyone who writes in will be selected, we will certainly try to achieve that goal. Rest assured that every submission will definitely be considered. If your library is not in one of those Top 100 markets, please email us your information anyway, and we'll see what we can do once we've donated our first 100 DVD sets, as we already have enough funds for more than 100 sets.
I do not know if any of you have seen "Friday Night Lights" before, but it's based on a movie, which was in turn based on a book of the same name by H.G. Bissinger about a small, fictional Texas town called Dillon, where high school football is more than a pasttime; it's almost a religion. Not only is this one of the best family-friendly shows in primetime -- a genre of show that is becoming increasingly rare in the current TV landscape -- but it is also one of the most critically acclaimed, extremely well-written, and superbly well-acted shows on television today.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me offlist at comments at savefridaynightlights.tv.
Thank you very much.
