[Publib] Public computer classes

I do all the computer classes in the library system, our outreach librarian
does computer classes at assisted living facilities & the downtown senior
center. At the moment we use a 10 machine laptop lab that can be placed
anywhere in the building & at our outreach locations (where we installed
encrypted wi-fi with the co-operation of these facilities). I have about
18-20 topics that I choose from, has its own schedule but uses a combination
of mine & Miranda's material to teach due to the different audience. An
example of what we have done recently: Just finished a 6 week course on the
basics of keyboard, mouse, internet, email 1 & 2, Word. This weekend I'm at
the branch library doing basic digital photography, then in May after our
big fundraiser I have a 4 week series on Inside your PC, PC security, home
networking and XP V Vista.

Subject: [Publib] Public computer classes

I'm looking for some collective wisdom on offering public computer classes
at public libraries: purposes in offering classes, methods of determining
what classes are taught and determining who teaches the classes.
