As a child, my first library the Adele H. Maze Branch in Oak Park , was a
"haunted library." This came from the word among the kids on the street
that she died in the library basement. The library history on at
http://www.oppl.org/maze/history.htm shows a timeline that makes it
possible. I have no firsthand knowledge as 1957 was before my time time in
the building!

My mom always "corrected" my speculation by indicating that "Miss Maze loved
the library." After working there I believe that my mom was on target with
her protrayal of Miss Maze.

AND

My favorite tip for checking on a sleeper is to accidentially drop some
heavy art book somewhere nearby, yet behind the individual.
