[Publib] Re: Membership with Chamber of Commerce

We joined the newly-formed Chamber of Commerce when it was created
three years ago. Their rate for a non-profit is only $75/year. For
that $75, we've gotten sponsors for four of our monthly concerts, at
$500 each. Doesn't cover the cost of some of the concerts, but sure
helps stretch the budget. When our YA librarian wanted to do a
self-defense class for teens, I contacted the local martial arts
instructor, who will teach a four-part class for us at no charge.

We also participate in the Chamber's Best of Brookfield event, which
publicizes local businesses and organizations to the community. No
charge and good exposure. The Chamber's networking and continuing ed
events are a good way for us to meet local business people.
