Wow,

So, Allen, if you are not there and the site structure
actually needs to be changed, it makes you somewhat
indispensable - since it is not shared knowledge.

I can do the same thing with Expression and Sharepoint
and the knowledge will be transferable - with excellent
training available for anyone who needs it.  The for-profit
IT people often remind me not to do anything without
charging for it - and especially not to teach people
how to fish. That mentality is what has led to the high
cost of IT departments in libraries.

Right on James. I was about to chime in with your sentiment. I am in the 
process of getting ready to port our website over to Joomla so that our 
staff doesn't have to wait on me to get their changes, additions or 
deletions onto the website. As long as one or two staff members knows a 
little about HTML, PHP & MySQL (that would be me!) then the rest of the 
staff doesn't really have to know that 'techie' stuff.
