[Publib] Circulating old magazines

I know this topic has been talked to death, but we plan to circulate back issues of magazines, and it has been suggested that they be circulated in plastic bags or covers to extend their life. Does anyone who circulates magazines do this? We would use only the cheapest available bags or covers, and we are debating whether it may be worthwile to do so at all.

Any suggestions about this? Any other pitfalls to be aware of when circulating back issues? The decision to circulate back issues has been taken - now we're down to details.
