Survey of Public Libraries and Government Information Services

The Library Research Center, a division of the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois, has received a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to study how libraries provide assistance and training to low-access individuals in their search for government information. The purpose of this survey is to account for the different types of programs, training,
and services available at libraries to make government information more accessible to low-access individuals.

This survey is part of a larger study that will be published by the Institute of Museum and Library Services with the goal of influencing policy changes that would benefit libraries and their services. We hope it will also inform IMLS's next study on the impact of library internet access to its users

The surveys was mailed to a scientific sample of public library directors this week. If your library has been selected
to participate, we hope you will respond. Thank you in advance for your involvement with this important
project.
