Hi-
We do not circulate our current issues, but we attempt to track our in-house use, although, of course, we can only track use when items are not put back on the shelf by the patron. Over an average three month period of time we see 15-30 uses for these titles based on these stats. Circulation stats also indicate that most issues of these titles circulate at least once, often more. Have you considered circulating the current issue for the remainder of your current subscription on these to see if that might bring the users out? Or have you considered putting out a simple note on these titles you are considering canceling with a way to respond (ie. attaching quarter sized sheets to the magazine with the name of the magazine and a place to simply check they would like to keep the magazine). We sometimes find that items we thought were never touched actually have a devoted following.

Subject: [Publib] Magazine Circulation
Hello All;
I just received a magazine circulation report. The magazines that do not go out are the weekly news magazines (Time, Newsweek, and U. S News & World Reports, which can not circ until the next issue comes in). Sports Illustrated and Popular Mechanics. Is this true all over? Has anyone discontinued the news weeklies? I can't say I see them being read in the library, either.
