[Publib] acceptable level of loss for DVDs and other popular media?

We are in the process of purchasing a DVD jukebox. This machine will store
the DVDs without their cases. The patron brings the case (with the bar
code) to the jukebox, scans the bar code and their library card and the
correct DVD pops out. This machine will also check out other items at the
library so it is also a self-check machine. I will be happy to give
everyone more details (cost, volume of DVDs it holds, performance), after we
have had it a few months. It has not arrived yet.

The goal for this is to:
1) Reduce the amount of time that staff spends checking out DVDs (which is a
lot).
2) Reduce theft of DVDs (which is a lot).
3) Better service for our patrons ;0)
