Hello,

I work for a large, urban public library (over 85 branches) who is governed
by an "all-knowing" board of trustees. It seems that they are leaning
towards having a centralized ordering system so that librarians and their
job of collection development is essentially stripped away. Currently, I am
in an MLS program and part of the reason I'm becoming a librarian is for
collection development. I always enjoyed assisting the librarian with making
selections and currently am in charge of ordering certain parts of our
collection on my own.

Do you know of any other libraries that have had this happen and if so, how
did they cope with the new changes?? Does it seem to be a new trend or is
this an isolated incident??

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Sincerely,
Sandra
New York
