[Publib] Effect of 3M Security Gates on Computer Equipment?

We've had an issue with patrons frantically demanding to have their
laptop passed around our 3M security gates.

We walk through with assorted laptops, portable hard drives and the
occasional desktop computer on a regular basis and there's never been
a problem - nor should there be, to my understanding, as we are not
exposing them to the desensitizers.

Is there something we should be concerned about here?
