Please excuse any cross posting.
Hi,
My name is Susan Smith. In addition to working as a public librarian for the
last ten years, I am a doctoral student at the School of Urban and Public
Affairs at the University of Texas at Arlington.
As part of my doctoral dissertation research, I am surveying public
librarians in the United States about their ideas of the public library and
the library profession in the 21st century. This information will in turn
provide information on and insight into the functioning of the public
library. The purpose of this survey is to determine how working librarians
perceive the institution of the public library in the 21st century and how
the library profession shapes the institution of the public library with the
goal of improving knowledge about and functioning of the institution of the
public library. In addition to forming the basis for my dissertation, I hope
to be able to share the results in some of the professional library
journals.
Participation in this research is voluntary and anonymous. The survey is
available online and should take about 20 to 30 minutes to complete and
requires some thought. If you are interested in completing the survey,
please click the link below. Otherwise, thank you for your time.
