[Publib] Summer School communications

Mary, when you say "no one from the local school district has bothered to
tell us" about summer school reading lists, it makes me want to ask the
following questions.
What strategies have people used to build relationships with local schools
and media specialists, and keep communications open about assignments and
reading lists?
It's a big challenge to break through the tight schedules and overburdened
work hours for faculty and administrators. I know every community and every
school system will be different, but what channels have worked best for you?
Are personal visits and appointments most effective, or have you been able
to get by with phone calls and e-mail?
In Bloomington, IN, where I got my MLS, the Monroe County Public Library
managed to set up a monthly conference with teachers and media specialists
to keep on the same page about homework help, etc. I don't know if it's
still going--I'll have to ask my friends there!
