Hi everyone,

By now you should have received the posters and other materials for this
year's TD Summer Reading Club. This year's theme is Lost Worlds and the
materials look great! If you have any questions or concerns about them
please let me know. (Lori is away until June 4th so I will do my best to
answer questions in the meantime.)

This year's program will work in the same way as last year. Reading kits
will be handed out to participating children, and include a reading
log/activity book, a poster, and stickers. The goal is for each child to
read 9 books over the course of the summer. For every book they read
they will receive a sticker from the kit. If you would like a more
detailed description of the program, a staff manual is available online
at http://www.td-club-td.ca/2007/009003-07-110-e.html. You will also
find recommended booklists there. If there are any books you would like
for your library from these lists please let me know as soon as possible
and I will get them to you as quickly as possible.

This year we're also thrilled to be offering a Summer Reading Club for
teens! This program is for students in Grades 7-12. It is a web-based
program, which means that teens wishing to participate will need to
register with the TeenSRC website at www.teensrc.ca. Then over the
course of the summer they can submit book reviews to the website for any
books they have read. Every book review earns them a chance to win
weekly prizes, including books and gift certificates. At the end of the
summer we will do a grand prize draw for all the Yukon teens who have
participated - the prize will be an MP3 player!

Please note the website doesn't open until June 15th. If you're
interested in learning more, last year's site will give you an idea of
how the program works: http://www.teensrc.ca/2006/
<http://www.teensrc.ca/2006/> .

Posters and bookmarks to promote the TeenSRC will be sent to you
shortly. Please do your best to let teen readers in your community know
about this program. Aside from promoting the program not much else is
required on your part. Prize draws will be done at WPL and we will send
you the prizes for winners in your community. If you would like to host
programming for teens over the summer we encourage you to tie it in to
the Teen Summer Reading Club. This year's theme is Book Yourself a Trip
- a travel theme with lots of potential.

More details on the TeenSRC will follow. In the meantime please let me
know if you have any questions.

Cheers,
