[Publib] computer drop in time

We don't do drop-ins, per se, but we do schedule patrons for "computer
tutor" sessions. We tutor on subjects ranging from getting to know the
computer (basic desktop, icons, my computer, etc.); intro to internet
searching; library databases, word, publisher, etc. Here's the link to the
brochure as it appears on our website:
http://192.168.4.4/Handley/Reference/2005%20Computer%20Tutor.htm. We start
at a half-hour, but will spend additional time if the desk isn't too busy.
We encourage patrons to come with specific questions in mind and walk them
through that. We have some patrons who use the service a single time and
others who come back for five or six sessions. Of course if someone is
logged onto one of our computers and is having a problem, we troubleshoot as
well.

Becki

Subject: [Publib] computer drop in time

  Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has a computer drop-in time set aside for
patrons to come in and a librarian is specifically available to help with
formatting resumes, printing something from the Internet, getting that
darned email to open, etc. I'd like to know how you hold the "program" and
other specifics.

Also, does anyone do anything out of the ordinary or innovative with their
computers other than the standard catalog searching classes, how to set up
email, etc.

If you respond to me privately, I'll post it all to the group.

  Thanks,
  Andrea Lemieux
