I agree, Vivian. If one person is caught stealing from a library, the
incident "should be treated just the same as shoplifting in a retail store".
A library is a place of business that provides services to the
general public or that community of people. The items within the
collections belong to the library.
The Circulation staff should make notations within the patron's record
regarding the incident,
and the security staff should be informed.
We need to come down much harder on those patrons and teach them a lesson,
for they are
considered criminals.
