[Publib] Shelving and Cataloging for a Foreign Language Collection

Hello,

I work at a very small library working on starting a Spanish language
collection. Our collection so far includes books in English by Hispanic
authors, books in Spanish by Hispanic authors, books in Spanish by English
speaking authors, Spanish language learning reference books (e.g.
Spanish/English dictionaries), and several audio sets to learn Spanish (for
English speakers) or English (for Spanish speakers). We'd like to keep all
of these materials in one shelving location and we have given the collection
a name; however, we are trying to decide how to catalog these materials and
what their spine labels should look like. It would be great to hear how
other small libraries have dealt with similar collections. In particular,
we are wondering how best to shelf and label the books written in English
and Spanish. What's the best way to differentiate the English language and
Spanish language books while shelving them in the same area? Would it be
confusing for their spine labels to be different, but each have a sticker
indicating the collection on them? Should the only differentiation in terms
of spine labeling be a sticker indicating that the book is in Spanish? I'm
worried about making these books too "sticker happy" (a sticker for the
collection, a sticker if the collection is in Spanish, a sticker if the
material is new). If anyone has any suggestions or has any procedures that
have worked well for them, I'd be very interested in hearing about it.

Much appreciated!
