I don't know much about mascot costumes, but here is something that I once
learned about literary character costumers:  if you have a lot of young
women on your staff, get a Winnie the Pooh costume.  It is the perfect
"maternity costume".  A woman who is 6 - 7 months pregnant has exactly the
same shape as Pooh and looks great as the ole bear.
