[Publib] MYSTERY MAGNIFYING GLASS?

Hello, everyone, esp. techies

When working on my home PC (Dell XP), sometimes
this little square magnifying glass suddenly
appears.  Once it appears, I can't get rid of it.
Does anyone know what I'm doing to "invoke" the
magnifying glass? or how to make it go away?
Now I just restart my computer each time, then
it goes away.

I would appreciate any feedback on how to fix this.
