There is a paperback fiction book that I read around 1987-88 and I am
having a hard time recalling the title or author.

 

It's a horror fiction (I remember reading only horror at that point)
that has Nicola Tesla in it.  

 

The main story is about a group of people who were transformed during
one of Tesla's experiments while they were in a costume party.  The
individuals merged with their costumes becoming satyrs, girls with
butterfly wings for arms, etc.  There is a conflict between the people
in a nearby town and these individuals (the party was housed on a large
wooded estate so their interaction is limited). A young man falls in
love with the girl with butterfly wings, while another townsman is
actively hunting out these 'abominations' as they are called. 

 

I can't for the life of me remember the title or author, but I was
hoping someone on the list may have come across it before.
